Ok, so Salem did a Virginia Tech Remembrance at the Salem Farmer's Market on the 1 year anniversary of the VT shootings. I went over to the Market early with some fellow employees to blow up balloons for people to release. I was quite surprised by all the different comments I heard on te days events. One man who came into my office said "Why is everyone wearing VT clothes today?" I proceeded to tell him it was in remembrance of the shooting victims, to which he replied "Well I'm not a Tech fan". I was a little taken aback by this. I do not consider myself a "Tech" fan either per say. I kind of just follow whoever I like at the particular time. I thought to myself, what does that have to do with anything?? This day is about the victims, and they just happen to be from VT which is close to our little town of Salem. Then I went over to the event and it really was a poor turnout. I don't know if it is because it wasn't advertised well or what, but I know we got an email at work and I didn't see very many people from the City there. It was a little disappointing. But I guess some people just want to forget it ever happened. I am not like that, most people have forgotten about 9/11, but I cannot. I lookup reminders and stories about those people all the time. I don't think we should ever forget. So I just wanted to post some pictures I took from the event and say that I miss all of the people who were killed on that day 1 year ago. After reading all your stories I feel like I know you all.
